Digital cable box + TV + VCR + DVD player: How can I record on my VCR?
I used to have basic calbe (Comcast) and last week "upgraded" to their digital cable service (they brought this small box thing and hooked it up).
I used to be able to watch one TV channel and record another and now I can't. At first I thought the cable was connected to the TV and not the VCR and that I just needed to switch the calbe. Not the case.
The cable runs from the wall into the box thing, then from the box thing to the VCR.
HELP!!! Tonight at 9:00 I usually watch "24" and record "Heroes"!
Sounds like they didn't properly hook up your VCR.
Try this first:
1.) Turn on your VCR.
2.) Make sure that the TV is set to the correct input for the VCR.
3.) See what channel you have the VCR set to, (3 or 4)
4.) Make sure that the TV is set ot (3 or 4)
5.) Change the channels on your VCR until you see a signal, start at channel 2 then go to 3 and 4 it should be one of those 3 channels.
This will only allow you to record what you are watch...
If you want to record on channel and watch another than get a "splitter" and another couple coaxial cable wire from Radio Shack. Connect the splitter going from the wall to the cable box.
Hook up the new cable from the splitter to the cable box and the other side of the splitter to the VCR.
From the cable box hook that into the TV using the coaxial cable wire or component wire. From the VCR use composit cable or the coaxial cable wire.
You should now have one signal going through your VCR to your TV and one from you cable box to your TV. Record on your VCR watch the signal from your cable box.
Your signal from you cable box should be a better signal.
Note: You will not get all of the channels you would normally get with Cable going through your VCR. Usally you only get the first 74 channels.
Enjoy...Save the vcr save the world...
