Why is my remote Controlling two devices?
Hello,
i bought a Sony RM-VZ320 Universal Remote. i programmed it with my GE analog to Digital converter box, and it works perfect. however whenever i hit the guide button it not only brings the guide up for my converter box but simultaneously turns on my CD player which never has been programmed with this remote. then the menu button controls not only the menu but also the CD tray on my CD player. i have reset the remote to factory setting and re programmed, but same problem. i also called Sony.. no help.
please help?! I'm at a loss and don't know what to do.
Remote: Universal Remote controller Sony RM-VZ320
Converter box: GE
CD player: RCA 5 disc CD changer model RS2605

Does the CD original remote or the converter box original remote run each other the same way? If so, then it is the case they use the same IR protocol and data. It is not Sony's fault. The remedy is to switch one device for a brand whose remote does not conflict.
If it is just sthe Sony remote that exhibits that behavior, then they are at fault, and are not properly implementing address bits. Get another Brand Remote to adress that issue.
