Some dvd's dim and brighten when played?
I bought a brand new Sony dvd player, after I assumed my other one was broken (for dimming and brightening as well). It has worked fine up until today. I bought a two new dvd's and when they are played, the picture is dark for a few seconds, brightens to normal, and then repeats. I put in a previous disc from the day before, and it works perfectly fine without dimming and brightening.
(I also put the new disc into a portable player that I have, and it works perfectly fine in that, so nothing's wrong with the disc itself.)
What's going on with the player? I heard something about macrovision and how the dvd player syncs itself to it, reading it like this is how it's supposed to be played. But this is annoying. How do I make it stop?
(Connection: Older GE tv, connected via coaxle cable into vcr. VCR red, yellow, and white cables, connected to DVD player.)

Macrovision is the problem, and your VCR is affected by the signal passing through it.
You need to get an RF modulator to connect the DVD player to the TV, bypassing the VCR altogether.
