my denon dht-500sd wont open the tray?
power on it goes on standby then you press any button (inc remote) the blue light comes on but nothing on the display and nothing happens .... help .... cant find a hole for a paperclip (sort of thing you find on a PC to manually open the tray) have a disk stuck inside and need it out desparately
Hi there.
Mmms. Ok, when you power on, it goes to standby mode. Good, that works ok. So when you press the power button, it should start the cycle of checking if disc is present etc, but it doesn't. Does pressing the eject button do anything? Any error message comes up? If not, you'll need to send the DVD player in for repairs. Reading the FAQ or Problems section in the user's manual helps as well. However, if you're willing to void your warrenty and remove the disc yourself, you can but AT YOUR OWN RISK!.
NOTE: turn OFF the power first and UNPLUG the power cord before doing the following steps. There's enough power inside the player still plugged in to seriously injure you! UNPLUG! Don't touch anything inside if it's not required or necessary. The less stuff touch, the less likely you'll inadvertly damage the electronics.
There's 4 "+" phillips screws in the rear (2 on top, 1 at each side). From the pic i'm looking at, there might be two screws on either side of the player, not sure, hard to tell. Now to remove the top cover, most DVD or tape players are removed by lifting or tilting the back up first a couple of inches, then slide the entire cover off "backwards" (pushing). From there, you can remove your disc, put cover back on, screws in, and try repowering it up again and see if it now works. If not, send it in for repairs.

ps. btw, a majority of the DVD/CD standalone players do not have pinholes where you can eject the tray while power's off.
